Virtual University assignments: how the deadlines actually work
Assignment windows in the Virtual University LMS behave differently from quizzes. Here is how submission, late policy, and results really work.
Virtual University assignments are where most students lose the marks they least expected to lose. Unlike a quiz, which you either attempted or did not, an assignment has a file, a format, and a submission window — and each of those is a separate way to fall short.
The window is shorter than it looks
An assignment is typically announced well in advance but stays open for a fixed window near the end. Students see the announcement in week one, mentally file it as 'later', and then meet the actual closing date without warning. The LMS does not remind you as the window narrows.
Submission is not the same as acceptance
- Upload the required file format — a wrong extension can mean a zero even though you submitted on time.
- Check the file actually attached; a failed upload often looks like a successful one.
- Re-open the assignment page after submitting and confirm the status changed.
- Keep the submission confirmation until the result is declared.
Late submissions
Virtual University generally does not accept assignments after the closing time, and the LMS enforces it automatically — there is no grace period to appeal to. This is why the deadline itself, not the work, is the thing worth tracking.
Track assignments the same way you track quizzes
Both live in the same LMS, both close without warning, and both cost you marks the same way. If something is already walking your courses to find pending quizzes, it should be finding pending assignments in the same pass — and telling you about both in one email.
